Tiffany Brookner, the founder and creator of Shortcakes began developing Shortcakes while attending culinary school at Le Cordon Blue, Texas Culinary Academy in Austin, Texas.
She always knew she wanted to be a chef and finally got the opportunity, but at a more “mature” age than the conventional student. It was during her internship, while working late nights that she decided she needed to make a change.
So, she put together a work plan, presented it to the folks in the career department at TCA and that was the beginning of life as an entrepreneur.
The name Shortcakes is a childhood nickname that Tiffany’s dad called her and one that she thought would be catchy and still meaningful to her in the business world.
In the beginning of her career Tiffany would do culinary demonstrations at various Austin businesses but found that her most rewarding work was with children which quickly shifted into what is now part of the Shortcakes party package.
During that time, she also worked on developing a product line of cupcakes and cakeballs. The cupcakes and cakeballs were all created using the best ingredients and some of Tiffany’s favorite flavors. You’ll also find that each cupcake has its own quirky name with a bit of hidden meaning behind each one.
The final touch was made when Tiffany added candy to the business. Her husband’s family was in the Candy industry for many years with their most notable candy being the famous Charleston Chew, she wanted to include such memorable heritage and decided to add the candy buffet as another Shortcakes service.
